The IHCR Project

Our project is to build a hybrid race with the aim of beating the hybrid record at the 2019 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. We have decided to launch this project because of the meaning that this race has in the motorsport world. We have always been amazed by this race and to take part in it would be a fantastic experience for all of us. The choice of a hybrid race car came quickly because it allows us to work on differents types of propulsion with the challenge of making them work together. As future engineers, this project is all we need as it involves tuning of the gasoline engine, conception of the chassis and the rollcage, implementation of the entire electric system, calculation of the cooling system, conception of a torque mapping to adapt the power of both engines and aerodynamics. All the work will be done at our school, the Institut Supérieur de l’Automobile et des Transports of Nevers, which is the first public automotive-focused engineering school in France. Every year students at our school produce projects such as a Formula Student, an Eco-Marathon car or a hybrid rally car which then takes part in european events against other students. We can say that there, we have the tools and the knowledge to build a competitive car.
